Available duties and responsibilities

Fundraising

• Contacting local businesses for donation requests

• Email potential sponsors and upcoming events

• Register Smiles & Cries for local events and fairs

• Creating posters and flyers to distribute 

• Brainstorm ideas for new fundraisers and implementing them

​ 

Dog Socialization/ Fostering

• Helping get dogs familiar with walking on a leash.

• Teaching dogs/puppies how to be handled.

• Spending time with dogs so they are exposed to different people helping them get more comfortable around strangers.

 

Transport

• Transporting dogs to veterinarian for appointments

•  Pick up and deliver pets to/from airport or foster's home

• Must have own reliable vehicle

​Community Outreach

• Assist at events

• Digital photography of adoptable dogs and corresonding with Smiles & Cries Director.

 

Skills and Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of 14 years of age to volunteer with an adult.

• Volunteers aged 16 and over may volunteer alone.

• Willingness to be on call for some work

• Internet access as most communication is done through facebook and facebook messenger.

• Great communication skills

Homecheckers​

• We are always on the lookout for people willing to give up a little of their spare time to home check potential new homes. Our team of voluntary helpers are responsible for visiting prospective homes, and reporting back to our coordinator on the suitability of the home.

• Although unpaid, work for Smiles & Cries Dog Rescue is highly rewarding and our dedicated team of volunteers report a great deal of satisfaction from seeing waggy-tailed happy endings, as well as the pleasure of meeting like-minded dog lovers!

Our volunteers are expected to be reliable, compassionate, enthusiastic and responsible individuals. Cultivate positive public relations through professional, respectful and courteous interactions
On call availability is preferred !

Our volunteers are as big as part of the team as the directors. We treat everyone as a friend and we are willing to assist any volunteer if they need help.
